Do I Value Freedom and Independence?
Am I Agency-Captive or Agency-Free?
- Agencies Disfranchise Contract Employees
- Perhaps the fastest growing segment of the American workforce
is a distinct class of temporary workers called contract
employees.
- Contract employees are highly skilled and highly compensated
temporary workers employed by various types of staffing agencies
and other third-party employers of record.
- For a variety of valid reasons companies want their independent
contractors to go through an employer of record, but going
through a traditional staffing agency disfranchises
Contract Professionals from the tax advantages of self-employment,
limits them to mediocre health and retirement benefits, and
seriously eats into their potential earnings.
- This process converts independent contractors into disfranchised
contract employees by pressuring them to work for greedy and
avaricious staffing agencies in order to qualify for contract
assignments at client companies.
- Question:
What's worse than being a captive employee?
- Answer:
Being a captive contract employee.
- Question:
So what's a Contract Professional to do?
- Answer:

you hate being taken advantage of by predatory recruiting
firms, then you may be a very good match for P.A.C.E. Solo W-2™.
- What About Gatekeepers?
- P.A.C.E. prefers to contract directly with the client, as
opposed to subcontracting through an intermediary, but that's
not always possible.
- Some companies employ gatekeepers (e.g., vendor management
services, onsite vendors, preferred vendors, and other names)
to manage their contingent workforce. P.A.C.E. works
with gatekeepers... It is a fact of life in this industry.
- What we don't like is when we have to subcontract through
a greedy, predatory, and adversarial contract employment agency.
We prefer that you avoid using third-party recruiting firms
and their ilk whenever possible.
- We will subcontract through contract employment agencies.
This is often the case with rookie contractors who haven't
yet learned to market themselves effectively to client companies.
It's just that we prefer not to.
- When P.A.C.E. contracts directly with your client we are
in the best position to represent you as your employer of
record. Middlemen just get in the way.
>>> If
you are self-reliant, fiercely independent, and you dislike
working through third-party recruiting firms, then you may
